The event will take place on Saturday, August 29, and is part of the Children In Crossfire annual catalogue of fundraising events to help raise money to reach out to children suffering in danger zones across the world.

The event will give participants a unique bird’s eye view over River Foyle and on the day there will be lots of music and fun.

Participants will climb to a height of 170 feet in a crane basket and will be attached to the zipwire to cross 1,300ft of the River from Prehen boat house to Coshowen on Foyle Roadmaking the journey across the river at 35 miles per hour. And can be done in fancy dress too.

Head of Fundraising, JR McLaughlin, said: “We are thrilled to be doing the zip line across the Foyle again this year. We had wanted to do the challenge in the city having previously done it across the River Lagan in Belfast in 2009 and Derry in 2011 and 2012 and 2014.”

Director Richard Moore added: “We are hoping to recruit 100 participants, places are limited and the interest in the challenge is phenomenal.”

This event is fantastic fun and so many particpants are doing the Zipline Challenge to mark birthdays and anniversaries. Everyone should do this at least once. To take part, contact the Children in Crossfire Fundraising team on 02871 269898 or e-mail: [email protected].
