PSNI appeal for information following assault

Police at Strand Road in Londonderry are appealing for information about an assault in which a man sustained serious facial and head injuries.

Officers attended a report of an assault outside a public house at Park Avenue shortly before 7pm on Tuesday, July 22.

A 23-year-old man sustained a suspected fractured skull and broken jawbone and was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital. A 44-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He was admitted to hospital with a suspected broken leg.

Two men are alleged to have been involved in the initial incident. One ran off along Lower Nassau Street after the incident, while the second got into a car that was outside the bar.
