Police have released an image of the type of equipment stolen from Ballyclare Fire Station earlier this month as part of a fresh appeal for information into the incident.

A Holmatro cutter, a Holmatro spreader and batteries for both were taken during a burglary at the Ballynure Road premises on Sunday, October 15, around 10.30pm.

The vital pieces of operational equipment are used by firefighters to help rescue casualties from serious road traffic collisions.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The equipment stolen resulted in one of the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service vehicles being put out of action. I think everyone can agree that this is disgraceful behaviour.

"If you believe you can help the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, the police and your community you should contact police by phoning 101 and quoting police reference number 1895 of 15/10/23.”

Alternatively, a report can be submitted online using the non emergency reporting form or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
