Police probe Abbey Centre assault

Police in Newtownabbey have launched an appeal for information on social media following an assault at the Abbey Centre.

Details about the incident, which occurred at the shopping centre last month, were released on the Police Antrim and Newtownabbey Facebook page today (Wednesday).

Urging anyone with information about the incident to contact officers, a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesperson said: “On Thursday, September 22 at approximately 7pm there was an incident outside the front of the main entrance of the Abbey Centre, Newtownabbey, which led to someone being badly assaulted.

"The male suspect in this incident then made his way off from the scene. Police are currently carrying out enquiries to establish who this male is.

"If anyone has any information which could help identify this male, please contact police on the non emergency 101 and reference incident serial number 1722 -22/09/22.”
