Man jailed for causing best friend’s death

A MONEYMORE man who caused the death of his best friend by crashing into a field has been given a three-year jail sentence at Londonderry Crown Court.

Alan Forsythe (22) from Maghadone Road in Magherafelt, was one and a half times over the legal drinking limit when the incident happened in 2009.

He pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving with excess alcohol.

His friend, Lee McFaul, a 20-year-old welder from Desertmartin, sustained fatal head injuries in the crash.

Forsyth also admitted to causing death while driving without insurance.
