Attempted robbery and hijacking

Police in Londonderry are appealing for information following an attempted robbery and hijacking in the Greenhaw Road area on Saturday, December 29.

At around 2.20am, two males went into a taxi office in the Dungiven Road, Waterside and took a taxi to the junction of Greenhaw Road and Steelstown Road where they threatened the driver with a knife and demanded money and the car. They fled with a small amount of cash in the direction of Carnhill.

The males are described as aged in their mid to late twenties, are around 5ft 11in tall and medium build. One had short black hair and a thin moustache and was wearing a green and white striped hooded top, green baseball cap, blue jeans and black cord shoes. The second male was younger looking with medium length auburn hair and was wearing a burgundy hooded top and blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the males in the area or has any information to call them st Strand Road.
