Police have reported that no one was injured in a horror smash on the Moneymore dual carriage on Monday evening.

A black Renault Clio and a red Ford Focus were involved in the collision at around 6.45pm.

But witnesses say it’s a miracle no one was killed as the red car, which seemed to have borne the brunt of the crash, skidded some distance along the road, and could be seen with a crumpled bonnet lying on its roof on the road.

The black car, which also suffered some damage, stopped in the lay-by just before the final bend as the carriage-way leads into Cookstown.

Traffic calming measures in place and the red car had been removed from the scene within an hour.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police in Cookstown received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision on Moneymore Road around 6.45pm on Monday, 21 December.

“The collision involved a black Renault Clio and red Ford Focus. No injuries were reported.”
