Community groups learn how to recruit volunteers

The workshop, led by tutor George Gillespie from Volunteer Now, aimed to help local community representatives gain an understanding of how to more effectively recruit and select volunteers for their organisation.

The key message from the workshop was that getting the right volunteers from the start is one of the best ways of ensuring effective volunteer management in the future for community organisations.

Helen Callaghan from Mayfield Residents’ Association was among those who attended the event.

“The course was very well delivered; it was an informative evening that signposted us to available help and advice. It was very relevant to working in the community,” she explained.

The training course was organised by the Newtownabbey Policing and Community Safety Partnership and was facilitated by Volunteer Now.

Volunteer Now promotes standards of practice for volunteer management, child protection and safeguarding vulnerable adults. It offers a range of programme courses in each of these subject areas.
