Coleraine to support Armed Forces Day

COLERAINE Borough Council along with local authorities across Northern Ireland and throughout the United Kingdom will unite in pride next week to honour Britain's armed forces, past, present and future.

On the morning of June 21st at 10.30am the Mayor and councillors from Coleraine will be joined by representatives from the Armed Forces, the Cadet Forces, Regimental Associations, and the Royal British Legion at Coleraine Town Hall to take part in a ceremony to commemorate lost veterans, demonstrate respect for the maimed and injured, and to show solidarity for all serving Armed Forced personnel.

Mayor of Coleraine Cllr Norman Hillis said: "It is important that the Armed Forces and the veterans are shown support and gratitude for what they achieve on their missions."

Council will raise and fly the specially commissioned 2010 Armed Forces Day Flag at Coleraine Town Hall at 10.30am on June 21st.
