Chance to join in the country’s coolest sport

AFTER all the Olympic success it’s the coolest sport in the country and Tri Cycle are organising a series of short cycle rides in August and September aimed at those who have recently started (or re-started) cycling and would like to go for a slightly longer ride with a few other like minded people.

The rides will last approximately three hours, will travel at a regular pace and, dependant upon the participants, may include a short road-side stop for refreshments. All rides start and finish at the end of the Lagan Towpath near the arches at the Lisburn Civic Centre at 10 am. There will be a registration fee of £2 per ride and all participants will receive a map of the proposed route and the rides will be guided by a qualified cycling instructor.

All participants are reminded to bring appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, spares for their own bike and something to eat and drink.

The dates for the cycle rides are August 18 and September 1.

If there is enough demand, some of the rides may be gender and/or age specific to encourage more minority groups to take up and enjoy cycling as a form of a leisure activity. The series may also be extended in to the Autumn, again if there is sufficient demand.

Tri Cycle are also putting on short family rides along the towpath each Wednesday evening in August, starting at the towpath at 7 pm, as part of the re-run of the postponed events from Lisburn Bike Week. There will no charge for these events.
