Challenge success at Shelbourne

LAST week a Top Gear style challenge hit Shelbourne Toyota in the form of the Auris Hybrid MPG Challenge with huge success and fun had for all who participated.

The challenge was open to everyone to drive around a pre-designated route and achieve the highest MPG that was then entered onto the Auris Hybrid MPG Lap Board.

Hundreds participated in the event to fight it out for the top spot on the board – but there could only be one winner so congratulations to Mr Nathan Wallace from Portadown, for getting an incredible 99.8MPG on his lap and who won the luxury weekend break for two.

Also participating in the event were a few familiar faces. Mr Edwin Poots – Minister for Environment, decided to take the Auris through its paces – and recorded an impressive 89.6MPG. Also rising to the challenge was Ian Lynas, Motoring Correspondent for Johnston Press who managed another impressive MPG lap time.

“The Hybrid Challenge was an excellent event and thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated," said Paul Ward, Shelbourne Director. “Not only did everyone have a good time but we also hope that we have demonstrated to the driving public that hybrid cars can excel in terms of fantastic economy, style and comfort that can ultimately save the driver money on their fuel bills.”
