Barra Drive roof replacement welcomed
He told The Ballymena Times: “I’m glad to report that Housing Executive have submitted a proposed scheme to completely re-roof all the blocks of apartments in Barra Drive. Even better still I have been given a commencement date of March 2015,” said Mr Frew who pointed out that the work will coincide with a replacement roof scheme in Chichester Park East on which says he had been liaising with NIHE for some time.
He added: “This is yet another great news story for the people of Ballykeel and Harryville, especially the people who reside in these properties, many of them who actually own their own dwelling but have had to put up with water coming through their roof or the communal areas.”

It became very clear when canvassing the area and meeting the residents that something needed to happen with the flat roof system. Many of the stairwells have buckets on the ground collecting water or massive wooden sheets on the ceiling to mask or repair breaches in the roof. There are also problems in people’s actual homes.
“I would like to thank the local Housing Executive for placing this on the agenda and putting forward a scheme that will be greatly appreciated in the area. We just need to get the people though this winter,” he said.
