Ballymoney security alert ends

The Ballymena Road in Ballymoney has now re-opened following a report of a suspicious object found close to residential premises in the area.

Army Technical Officers have finished at the scene and a controlled explosion has been carried out on a viable device. The object has been taken away or further forensic examinations.

It is believed that the object may have been a pipe bomb.

Residents who had been evacuated during the incident have now been allowed to return to their homes.
