Artistic Talent Shines Through in St Joseph’s

Pupils from St Joseph’s Primary School, Dunloy are celebrating success in two art competitions.

In October Kyra Doherty P4 and Oisin Mc Erlane P6 won 1st and 3rd prize respectively in the local heat of the Credit Union competition,

‘Ireland Through My Eyes’. Kyra’s painting went on to the regional final of the competition.

Primary Four pupil Conan McAlister achieved success when his painting was one of twelve chosen from throughout Northern Ireland in the competition, ‘Masterpiece for the MAC2’ Belfast’s new arts centre. This competition attracted over 1,200 entries. Conan’s painting, ‘Walking Grandpa’s Crazy Dog at Ballycastle’, will represent July in the MAC’s 2012 calendar and will hang in Belfast City Hall until February. Conan is pictured being presented with an art box by MAC Learning Participation Officer Clare Lawlor.
