Armed response police attend Ballycastle incident

Police are investigating a criminal damage incident in the Bleach Green area of Ballycastle at about 4:30pm on Sunday, October 5th.

Inspector John Allen said: “Police responded to a call stating that 3-4 men were smashing the front windows of the property.

“The men were reported to have been armed with iron bars and a hatchet and so Armed Response Unit officers also attended the call.

“However, no suspects were at the scene or nearby when police arrived.

“Extensive damage was caused to the front windows of the house, but no one was hurt as a result of the incident.

“I would ask that anyone who witnessed the attack call police on the non emergency number 101.”

Chairman of Moyle District Council Cllr Donal Cunningham condemned the attack saying there was no place in society for such actions.
