£3k spent on local NIHE properties

Local MLA Alastair Ross has highlighted that despite spending over £3,000 on maintaining NIHE properties in East Antrim, many people are still living in properties that require urgent maintenance.

The figures which were provided by DSD Minister Maurice Morrow show that over the past three years total spend in Larne, Islandmagee, Ballycarry, Carnlough and Glenarm will be in the region of £3,043,945. In Carrickfergus, Greenisland and Whitehead the figures is £4,220,406 over the same period of time.

Mr Ross said: “The figures clearly demonstrate that a significant amount of public money has been spent on NIHE properties, but there remains a need for further maintenance projects to ensure that homes remain fit for modern living. Over recent weeks I have visited many Housing Executive tenants complaining about a range of problems.”
