‘A team’ singer meets Olivers’ Army

The red-haired singer spent 48 hours at Camp Bastion last week, meeting the troops and performing two gigs.

During his trip, Sherran met some of the soldiers taking part in the 4,000 mile challenge for the Millburn Primary School pupil - the distance from Camp Bastion to Coleraine.

One of the guys taking part tweeted this picture of Sheeran holding a poster of the Coleraine school boy, who needs life-changing surgery.

Meanwhile, Oliver’s mother Charlene has revealed that the family hope to help other lcoal kids when Oliver’s treatment has been completed.

“We are just totally overwhelmed that we have reached our target so soon. We really weren’t expecting to have raised the money so quickly, and there are fundraisers planned right through the summer.

“After Oliver gets his operation in America he will need on-going physio for three years, but after this we hope that there will be some money left to help other children, especially children within the Coleraine area.”

A local helicopter firm have also pledged their support for the Coleraine lad - and they’re offering one lucky person a helicopter ride around the Causeway Coast.

Charlene explained: “Cutting Edge helicopters have come on board. They have set up a just giving page for Oliver and anyone who donates £10 or more will be entered into a draw. The winner will get an aerial tour of the North Coast and a three course meal at the Bushmills Inn - it’s a great prize, and something really different. So we’re really exciged about it.
