“I met Tommy O’Reilly last December following fears that up to 30 jobs could be lost at the processing unit – and also lobbied DSD Minister Mervyn Storey and the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Minister Mark Harper in order to protect jobs at Lisahally.

“I also requested renewed commitments in respect of other work for DWP carried out by staff at the processing unit.”

Mr Durkan said he will be continuing to push for the decentralisation of more jobs to the North West.

He stated: “I will continue my lobbying efforts in order to identify further opportunities to locate work in the North West which will contribute to the long-term future of Lisahally – and fight for staff whose quality of work and productivity performance has always been consistently high.”
