NODA Awards for Portrush Music Society members

Two members of Portrush Music Society are celebrating after being recognised in the annual NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) awards on June 27.

This year’s proceedings were a little different, with nominees logging on from various regions to a Zoom call to hear the results.

Elaine Macauley won Best Individual Performance for reprising her role as the powerhouse Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act the Musical. Elaine has been a part of Portrush Music Society since 2008, securing many lead roles throughout the years.

Meanwhile, a A Special Recognition award was given to John McDowell for over 50 years of dedication and commitment to the local arts. John began his time with PMS in 1968. His experiences have stretched from on stage performances, directing, to being a stalwart of the committee from Chairperson to appointment as President.

Portrush Music Society are extremely proud of their award winners and look forward to getting back into rehearsals for next year’s production of Shrek The Musical.
