Frew raises awareness for anti-bullying week

The week-long event is co-ordinated by the Northern IrelandAnti-Bullying Forum (NIABF), an inter-agency body that is made up of over 25 statutory and voluntary sector organisations who all contribute to the key messages.

Mr Frew shared his support: “I am very pleased to be backingthis cause and hope that through Anti-Bullying week we can make people even more aware of how serious the issue is and hopefully go on to make the issue a lesser problem for everyone.”

Over 800 schools and youth groups across the region will participate in activities to highlight anti-Bullying Week, which is hosted by the National Children’s Bureau and funded by the Department of Education. The key message of the theme, ‘Together we will make a difference-end bullying now’ looks at the role we can all play in taking a collective stand against bullying in all forms.

Mr Frew explained, “Bullying is a very serious issue and can affect people’s lives terribly. I want to raise awareness as much as possible with the hope that people will become more sensitive to bullying issues in every community and can then impose a greater, more positive impact.”

Mr Frew conclude, “It is important that we all as individuals play an equal role to help put an stop to bullying in every environment so I urge individuals to think about what they could do to end it.
