Young people encouraged to use health services

THE South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust and Lisburn YMCA are to continue their successful partnership, which is delivering the ‘Totally Youth’ Youth Advice Service in Lisburn, and are encouraging local young people to drop in and use the service.

The service operates from the YMCA premises at 28 Market Square every Monday afternoon from 3pm-5pm.

The project has been running since 2005 providing young people with access to a range of health services within an environment which is suitable to their needs.

‘Totally You’ offers a drop-in youth advice service which is staffed by a Youth Worker, Youth Health Advice Nurse and Assistant Psychologist who are available for confidential advice and information on a range of issues including smoking, diet, BMI testing, sexual health, relationship support, mental health promotion and general healthy living. The service operates in a youth centre with lots of activities on offer such as pool competitions, internet access, a coffee bar and a social area to relax and chill out in. The service is confidential and as it operates as a ‘drop-in’ you do not require an appointment to access the service. All young people are being encouraged to to along for a coffee on a Monday afternoon between 3-5pm and check out how the service works.
