Cross and Passion GCSE record

Once again, all expectations in GCSE results have been exceeded in Cross and Passion.

The principal, Mrs Ward has warmly congratulated the pupils and staff on the tremendous set of results. 94% of pupils achieved 5A* to C Grades and 87% had 7 A* to C.

Mrs Ward also drew attention to a really significant success in the percentage of top grades awarded. In GCSE’s 41% of the grades awarded were A* or A, and 68% were a B or higher. In the applied B Tec courses, 47% of the grades were at Distinction or higher.

This year’s top two achievers were, Conleth Burns with 9A* and 1 A Grade and Olivia Sankiewicz with 2 Distinction*, 1 A*, 7A and 2 B Grades.

Other top achievers included; Chloe Woods, Niamh Brogan, Liam Fletcher, Sorcha Hughes, Bronagh Scullion, Toraigh Watson, Alex McMullan, Bebhinn Stuart, Anna Duncan and Paul McVeigh. Between them, the top 12 achievers in Cross and Passion achieved 104 Grade A* or A Grades.

Mrs Ward warmly congratulated all of the pupils and staff in Cross and Passion: “This is an all ability school and on results morning it is an absolute privilege for me to be a part of the celebrations with pupil, their parents and the school staff. It is great to see pupils of all abilities and aptitudes thrive, grow in confidence and feel so proud of their achievements.”

Paying tribute to her teachers and support staff, Mrs Ward highlighted a number of outstanding successes. This year, 94% of pupils achieved 5A* to C with 87% achieving 7A* to C. Mrs Ward was particularly pleased at the fact that when Maths and English GCSE were included, these results were 68% and 66% respectively.

In Pathway One, where pupils study a language and Double Award Science, 96% of pupils achieved 9 GCSE’s including English and Maths at A* to C.

The principal feels that this success is the combination teachers’ high expectations, pupils’ hard work, the support of parents and indeed the support which the wider community gives to the school.

She added: “This school is highly regarded in the local area, the partnership with Ballycastle High School is going from strength to strength and allows us to plan an outstanding curriculum offer for the young people. We look forward to a very bright future which includes the new Shared Education Capital programme announced in early July.”
