Children’s services ‘round table’ event

Ballymena parents can have their say on the future direction of services for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs at an event in the town on Thursday, June 12.

The Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership (CYPSP) Ballymena Locality Planning Group in partnership with Ballymena Sure Start and Castle Tower School is hosting ‘Celebrating Children, Understanding Needs & Informing Services’ on: Thursday 12 June from 9.30am-1.00pm in Leighinmohr House Hotel, Ballymena.

The event will celebrate the achievements of local children through an art exhibition featuring the work of pupils from Sure Start and Castle Tower School and a musical performance by Castle Tower School Choir.

A consultation session with parents will also be held to discuss the need to establish a holistic service that supports children and their families throughout their childhood and teenage years.

The event will include a presentation by The Dogs Trust about some of the work they’ve undertaken with children locally.

We believe in working closely with parents and using their insights to inform our work in meaningful and respectful ways. This event is important because it will give us a better understanding of the support needs of parents of children with disabilities and additional needs living in the Ballymena area.”

The Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership (CYPSP) is a multi-agency partnership, led by the Health and Social Care Board. It includes the leadership of key statutory agencies and community and voluntary organisations that have a responsibility for improving the lives of children and young people in Northern Ireland.

The Ballymena Locality Planning Group co-ordinates existing services for young people with the aim of making them more effective. It also regularly reviews needs in the area to see that services meet the actual needs identified by young people and their families.
