West End star to host singing workshop

THE Mid Ulster School of Music will be having an open day on Saturday 21 April and is offering the rare opportunity to work with a West End singer.

Kerry Ellis will be taking a workshop for singers, which will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for singers in the local area to have a chance to work with someone so accomplished on the musical scene.

In 2008, Kerry released Wicked In Rock, produced by Brian May, featuring Defying Gravity and I’m Not That Girl from Wicked, and the single No One But You (Queen & Kerry Ellis). She was honoured to be asked to perform Defying Gravity with Brian May at the 2008 Royal Variety Performance.

For her performance, Kerry won the Broadway.com Audience Award for Favourite Female Breakthrough Performance and won Best Takeover in a Role at the 2008 Theatregoer’s Choice Awards.

She then went on to perform as the leading lady in Oliver and release her album Anthems with Brian May from the legendary rock group Queen.

Following the workshop, the pupils and teachers of Mid Ulster School of Music will be performing a showcase concert in Magherafelt High School’s brand new hall at 1.45pm.

Mid Ulster School of Music has a reputation for excellence in their music, dance and drama teaching and this is reflected in their exam results every year. Then from 5-6pm at Mid Ulster school of Music there is an opportunity to meet and greet the teachers. This gives parents and pupils a chance to meet the teachers from the school and discuss music lessons or dance and drama classes for any new superstars who wish to join the school.

Tickets for the Kerry Ellis workshop and the showcase concert are available at the school of music. For further details please contact Fiona on 07754074931.
