Ulster Youth Orchestra to make theatre debut

THE award-winning Ulster Youth Orchestra will make its debut at the Theatre at The Mill in Newtownabbey on Saturday, April 10 at 7.45pm.

Under the baton of eminent professional horn player and conductor, Michael Thompson, the Orchestra will perform a classical concert with the programme including Two Ulster Airs by Joan Trimble, the Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major by Mozart (solo violin: Ciaran McCabe) and the Symphony No 2 by Beethoven.

The 42 young musicians will be performing this unique concert having undergone an intensive musical training week during Easter, working with some of the most famous names in the professional world of music and professors from music colleges in Great Britain.

The Theatre at The Mill is one of only two venues where the concert will be performed.

Bernard Clarkson, Theatre Manager, commented: “I am delighted that we are able to facilitate the young musicians from across Northern Ireland at Theatre at The Mill for their live performance following their residential training.

“This concert is a must for anyone who enjoys classical music, especially given the professional direction and influence the award-winning Orchestra will have received during the week’s rehearsals.”

Tickets for the concert cost 8 and 4 (concessions) and are available online at www.theatreatthemill.com or from the box office on 9034 0202.
