Long serving members in new MADS drama

LONG serving MADS members Caitriona Corr, Laura Robinson and Jonathan McGuiness will all star in the upcoming production, The Sound of Music.

Local singing teacher Caitriona Corr will perform the lead role of Maria. Caitriona has been with the drama society since it first began in 1996 and has been a key member of the group. When The Sound of Music was performed previously by MADS, she played the role of Liesel.

Primary school teacher Laura Robinson will perform the role as the Baroness. Like Caitriona, Laura also stared in MADS production The Sound of Music in 2006 and played the role of Maria. Laura has also recently being nominated for Lurgan Mail ‘People to be Proud of’ competition.

Finally, Jonathan McGuinness will be returning to the stage as the same role he played in the previous Sound of Music as Captain Von Trap. Jonathan has been Musical Director for various productions within the drama society.

MADS Chairman Kieran Corr commented: “Its great to see Caitriona, Laura and Jonathan all being involved in this production, which celebrates the opening of the newly renovated parish centre.

“All three have done so well for themselves and we as a drama society are very proud of them, especially Laura who has been nominated for a prestigious award run by the Lurgan Mail.”

The show will be staged in the newly refurbished St Anthony’s Centre in Craigavon.

The show dates and times are as follows: Friday, April 27 at 7.30pm, Saturday, April 28 at 3pm and Sunday, April 29 at 7.30pm. The show will continue the following weekend on: Friday, May 4 at 7.30pm, Saturday, May 5 at 8.45pm and the final performance will be on Sunday, May 6 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £6 with the exception of the Saturday matinee performance costing £5 and the

Saturday evening performance costing £10 which includes light supper and wine reception.

Tickets are available from St Anthony’s Centre during the mornings and Print Business Supplies. They can also be obtained from the box office on 3831 6496 or at the door.
