Horses for Courses exhibition set for Burnavon

Her work reflects some of my varied interests such as vintage machinery, history, horse racing and the rapidly disappearing traditional rural buildings. The exhibition includes paintings of some of the stars of Cheltenham, past and present, Hurricane Fly, Kauto Star, Master Minded, Arkle, Long Run and Denman.

After living and working in Belfast and Greece for several years she returned home to care for her mother. Jane lives on a small farm at the foot of Slieve Gallion, two miles from Desertmartin.

When asked where she gets her inspiration from Jane referred to the area around her.

“My inspiration comes from the landscape and animals around me. I usually carry a camera so that I can record interesting buildings, landscapes or old tractors that I can work into a painting at a later date.

“This exhibition is in memory of Colm Kelly, my constant companion, who died on 20 January 2012, aged 58.”

She has been painting for ten years but only started paining on canvas just over a year ago, having previously painted on creamery cans, slate, old kettles, griddles, saws, horseshoes etc.
