Historic properties open to the public

A host of historic buildings throughout the province will open their doors to the public on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11.

Locations in the Newtownabbey area opening for the weekend include the White House and Graymount House.

The White House has nestled on the northern shore of Belfast Lough for over 400 years. The Plantation Bawn has recently been restored from a crumbling building into a beautiful and multipurpose space. The Bawn now hosts two exciting interactive exhibitions - ‘A Tale of Three Kings’ recounting the Williamite and Jacobite Wars from a European perspective, and ‘Relive the History’ which tells the story of the building’s past up to the present day.

Graymount House is a Regency House with neo-classical detailing, designed by Thomas Jackson and opened in 1835 by linen merchant William Gray. It is presently on the grounds of Hazelwood Intergrated College which opened in 1985.
