Armoy auction gets a massive voucher boost from local firm

Mr James Chestnutt of Chestnutt Animal Feeds has generously donated four £300 vouchers to be divided between the beneficiaries - Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Mr Chestnutt presented the vouchers to Mr Stanley Jamison, chair of the Moyle Support Group of Marie Curie at his Stranocum base.

His donation was warmly welcomed by Mr Jamison who said it would provide the auction with an excellent boost and would complement all the other generous donations made by the community throughout North Antrim and the rest of Northern Ireland.

The auction is the first of its type undertaken by the energetic Marie Curie committee and promises to raise record funds for the two nominated charities.

Already, a tractor, horses, traps and gigs have been donated as well as a host of other expensive items.

Mr Jamison says they are delighted at the response of people and feels that it reflects the care and concern over cancer and the unfortunate rise of Alzheimer’s.

“The money raised will clearly help the care of those affected by the illnesses and that, in turn, will bring comfort to those and their families,” Mr Jamison said.

The organisers have encouraged people to keep making donations such as gift vouchers, art, equipment from any industry, sports memorabilia etc. They will not be accepting household furniture...but will accept a house!

Viewing is on Friday May 2 from 5pm to 8pm as well as on the morning of the sale.
