Spend an evening ‘At Home with the Gettys’

In this revealing documentary, viewers will see inside the private world of the Keith and Kristyn Getty, who also share musical performances of some of their most famous songs.

Easter 2021 sees the 20th Anniversary of the release of In Christ Alone, Keith Getty’s most famous hymn.

With over 100 million people singing this song across the globe every year, Keith Getty, who hails from Lisburn, remains a little known creative force of gigantic proportions.

In Christ Alone was not a one hit wonder. With millions of people across the world singing their hymns every year, Consider the Stars from the Getty Evensong album knocked Frozen off the Billboard charts in the USA.

The Getty’s mission is to spread the Word of God - through song. Born and bred in Lisburn and Belfast, the couple have for years split their time between their homes in Northern Ireland and Nashville, while performing and touring across multiple continents in between.

Raising their young family while travelling the world meant that life was hectic for the Gettys, but the Covid pandemic of 2020 has impacted their gruelling workload as well as their faith mission. Now based here on the North Coast until lockdown restrictions lift, the many prestigious venues from the Grand Ole Opry to the Royal Albert Hall in which the couple routinely perform, remain beyond reach.

Rather than idly sitting out the pandemic, Keith and Kristyn are busier than ever, adapting their approach to their music and reinventing their business to continue to engage with their community and their fans. Viewers will find out about Keith and Kristyn’s motivations, their ministry, their faith and the experiences that have brought them together and in their careers as well as their message of hope.

In At Home with the Gettys, viewers will hear the story of how they first met, their move to Nashville in the USA and their work reinventing the modern hymn.

Talking about the show, Keith said: “Being home in Northern Ireland for the last year has been very special.

“After 15 years on the road touring, lockdown has given us the opportunity to do things as a family which we have missed.

“When Stephen Watson approached us to make a documentary for the BBC we were thrilled.

“We realise this has been a difficult time for everyone, and we hope the programme helps enrich people’s lives this Easter. Reliving our journey has been particularly memorable as 20 years ago this Easter we tried out ‘In Christ Alone’ for the first time.”

Viewers will also follow them to Down Cathedral where they record a monthly family hymn sing, this time to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
