Search for singing stars

In this moment, when life is being spent indoors and time can pass slowly, the Ulster Star is teaming up with Lisburn Community Orchestra (LCO) in the search for singing stars.

The Ulster Star has supported and encouraged the musical talent of the Lisburn community; and now the paper is helping the newly formed LCO to highlight the astounding talent across our city.

Lisburn Community Orchestra was formed in September 2019 by their musical director Stephen McLoughlin and hosted two hugely successful and popular Home Alone Christmas Concerts last December.

They haven’t let the present lockdown hold them back either, producing a viral video rendition of Robert Miles’ classic dance track, ‘Children’.

Stephen explained: “The Lisburn Community Orchestra (LCO), with support from the Ulster Star, are on the hunt for a singing sensation to star in LCO’s upcoming video rendition of ‘Speechless’ from the latest blockbuster ‘Aladdin’.

“We are looking for talented Primary and Secondary aged children to sing their way into our hearts. Dance moves and fancy dress are very much encouraged.

“So if you are a potential Pavarotti, a secret Sinatra or perfect pitch princess and fancy being the star of the LCO’s next lockdown video it’s time to get practicing.”

To enter simply record a video of yourself singing your favourite song and send it via Facebook messenger to Lisburn Community Orchestra, https://www.facebook.com/Lisburncommunityorchestra, by Saturday April 18. The Orchestra will announce the successful candidates on their website and Facebook page on Saturday April 25.

Good luck and get recording!
