Get into the festive spirit with Lisburn musician’s new song

Lisburn musician Edward Cairns has released a brand new single for the festive season.

Entitled ‘The Best Time of the Year’ the song, released under his stage name Hounds of Alaska, is, he admits “an unashamedly upbeat track featuring all the usual bells and whistles that come with the classic Christmas songs, along with a message of hope and togetherness - albeit in a just so slightly tongue in cheek manner.”

Having spent a number of years as a bassist on the London indie band circuit, Edward decided to return to his native Northern Ireland in order to start from scratch. He began writing pop songs influenced by the Pet Shop Boys and New Order, as well as fellow countrymen, Two Door Cinema Club.

“Ever since I picked up an instrument in my teens, I always had a desire to write a Christmas song, and 2020 finally gave me the opportunity to do so because, well, there was nothing else to do during the summer,” he explained. “Just in the same way summer bodies are made in winter, Christmas songs are made in the summer.”
