Young South Ladies Thirds side are brought back to earth by defeat

South Ladies Thirds were brought back to earth when they came up against a strong Mossley side.

Missing a number of players due to half term break, the ladies had to defend from the start and were unlucky to go one down after a penalty flick was converted after a goal line infringement.

Amy Glover was relentless in helping the young team swiftly respond when she found Laura McConnell. Laura made her way to the byline and managed to get a cross in but the Mossley defence managed to keep their team in front.

Mossley again added to the pressure and soon converted their second after the South failed to clear the ball.

Mossley continued to attack but the South defence stood firm and Courtney in the South nets was again in fine form.

South came out after the break in determined mood with Erin McCandless going on a run down the right but the Mossley defence were waiting and quickly turned the tables again.

A swift move down the right found a forward in the circle and a rebounded was pounced on to give the Mossley team a great lead.

South continued to attack with Moore and Doyle trying to take charge of midfield but were unable to get any penetration into the Mossley circle. Two more late goals added to the tally and left the South team with too much work to do.

The ladies will hope to redeem themselves next week when they face their 2nd eleven in the league. Many thanks to Brian Wilson and Sarah Neill for umpiring.
