Tough starts for Garvey and Dromore in new Bowls season

LISNAGARVEY and Dromore face tough opposition on the opening day of the season in NIBA Division One on Saturday.

Garvey have a tricky home game with Divis and Dromore make the trip to champions, Whitehead. The following week gets no easier with Garvey at Portadown and Dromore home to Bangor.

The new set up means there are no local teams until Division Four. Lisnagarvey B travel to Annalong and Finaghy go to Clarendon. In the second week, Finaghy entertain Annalong and Garvey B are home to Sydenham.

Last season’s champions, Portadown B are now in Division Five and that is who Lagan Valley travel to. They are also on the road in the second week - to Holywood.

Dromore B have a home game with Windsor in Division Six and travel to BETS for their second match.

Finaghy B open with a home game against Newtownabbey B and travel the short distance to Musgrave B the following week.

In Private Greens Senior Two Hilden open away to Shorts and follow with a home match against Forth River.

Malone are home to Comber in the opening week and will hope to get a win away to Albert Foundry the following Saturday.

In Junior Two Hilden B entertain Shorts B and follow with a trip to Forth River B.

Because of the NIBA changes teams will play on Wednesday, July 6 and have only one Saturday off in July - July 16. The Private Greens take a break on July 16 and 23, while there are no League games at all on Saturday, August 6.

The Private Greens season ends on August 27 and the NIBA play an extra Saturday.
