Success for local juniors at national squash event in Galway

Congratulations to all the Lisburn Racquets Squash Club Juniors, and their very dedicated parents, who ventured out west to Galway LTC for last weekend's Irish Squash Junior Nationals.

Sam Gowdy was runner up in boys Under 11’s to finish the season first in Irish Squash Rankings.

His brother Harry (8), also playing in the Under 11 Section, was seventh, and will finish seventh in Irish Rankings.

Quite an achievement with two more full seasons ahead in this age group.

Their cousin Todd Gowdy, competing in the Under 17 Section, took his nemesis Scott Gillanders to the wire in a 1hr and 15 minute heart-stopping epic third/fourth play-off, and was so unlucky to lose the nail-biting fifth game 11/13.

In the Under 19’s, Stephen Hearst had three really tough matches, starting and finishing fourth.

Aaron Lowry finished 11th in boys Under 17 Section, and Aron Smit had to withdraw from the Under 13’s due to attending a wedding.

Well done all on their results.

Elsewhere, team results were as follows:

The A and D teams had free weeks.
