Shamrock Rovers next up for Whites

A HUGE hurdle awaits Lisburn Distillery in the quarter-finals of the Setanta Sports Cup.

The reward for seeing off UCD on Monday night is a two leg tussle with Shamrock Rovers.

Manager Tommy Wright will be all too familiar with the Rovers threat as he worked under boss Michael O’Neill as a goalkeeping coach before taking over at New Grosvenor.

“It’s a great tie for us,” said Wright. “I’ve got a real buzz about it. They are a top side, with the potential to be the best in Ireland for a long time.

“We will be under no pressure at all. They will be strong favourites. It is a big step up in class for us but also a great challenge for the players. If it had been a one-off game we stood a better chance, but we will give it our best shot. They will bring a big crowd too and it will be a fantastic game for the fans - not just our own fans but anyone who wants to see a top team like Rovers in action.”
