Ronnie wins Winter League at Islandderry

WINTER is officially over at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore as they recently saw the Final round of the 2011/12 Winter League being held.

Lisburn angler Ronnie McFadden held onto his lead to take first place overall going home with the well deserved £400 cash first prize. Ronnie finished 3rd in the final round with a bag of 3 trout for 10lb2 to give him a total of 42 points to secure 1st place overall.

Only half a point separated 2nd and 3rd place with Gerry Teggart, Belfast taking 2nd with 34.5 points taking home a Snowbee rod while Bill Johnston, Lurgan had to settle for 3rd with 34 points. Bill was in six place at the start of the day but had a great days fishing and took 2nd place in the final round with a 3 fish brace for 10lb5 to bring him into 3rd overall and home with a prize of a Snowbee XS reel.

Belfast angler Liam Brunty finished in 4th place with a Snowbee XS line and glasses with a total of 31 points and Stevie Smyth, Banbridge finished with 29 points to give him 5th place and a Snowbee Fleece Jacket.

Andy Simpson, Lisburn took first place in the final round with a 3 fish bag of 10lb10 which included a lovely steelhead of 4lb7. Islandderry Fishery would like to thank all the anglers for their support over the league and look forward to another successful league in October.
