Richardson thunderbolt wins it for Lisnagarvey Fifths

Lisnagarvey 5th XI entertained Mossley 3's in the early game at Comber Road this past weekend.

A tight game was expected given the closely fought match between the two sides earlier in the season.

The game turned out as expected with Garvey holding on for a narrow 1-0 victory.

Mossley started the brighter of the two as it took the fifths 10 minutes to settle. Once this period was over, the game was mostly played between the 25’s with Garvey shading the better of the chances.

A swift counter attack, intelligently spearheaded by Darren Scott led to a Garvey short corner that Peter Richardson converted with his trademark thunderbolt strike.

Mossley were on the back foot for the rest of the game and despite a period of prolonged pressure in the second half they were unable to convert.

Ross Boreland in the Garvey goal making one particularly impressive save when it seemed Mossley must score.

Getty strike enough for narrow win

Garvey sixth’s won an end to end encounter against Mossley fifths 1-0 in the late game at Comber Road.

The match was decided midway through the first half with a precise reverse stick strike by Iain Getty.

The Mossley keeper was certainly the busier of the two throughout but Roald Naeri in the Garvey nets made several fine saves of his own.
