Rathmore cock-a-hoop after Cup win

Rathmore snatched a dramatic extra-time winner over Lisnagarvey in the recent Lisburn City Council Under 14 boys tournament.

Six local schools took part in two pools of three.

Lagan College, Forthill, Laurelhill, Rathmore, Lisnagarvey and St. Patrick’s Lisburn all took to the court with Rathmore beating Forthill in the first semi-final and Lisnagarvey overcoming Lagan College in the second semi.

The final was a very exciting game between Garvey and Rathmore. At full time the teams were level at 14 each and Rathmore won by one basket in extra time.

In addition to the team games, there were two free throw competitions and it was the two beaten semi-finalists who put forward the eventual winners. Max Dimitrou from Forthill and Thomas Talimul from Lagan College took the top spots to give some solace to their beaten sides.

To finish off a great day, there was a Most valuable Player awarded from each team for their outstanding performances in the tournament.
