Peter strikes Gold

More than 400 Taekwondo practitioners from across the UK, Ireland, Spain, France and further afield gathered in Aylesbury, London for the British International Championships on the weekend of July 12 and 13.

This event, one of the biggest of its kind in the UK, attracted competitors of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Lisburn Taekwondo Club instructor and player Peter Stewart enjoyed great success, putting in an excellent performance to bring home one Gold and one Bronze medal.

Peter said: “I was delighted, I am really trying to compete as much as possible this year as I try to get to the Taekwondo Commonwealth Games at the end of the year. I hope to make the team for the Games in Scotland in November.”

Peter, who won Gold in the Masters section, is a 5th Dan Master and is currently training for his 6th Dan, however, he requires another five years’ training.

Peter, who has been teaching at the Lisburn club for 20 years, also hopes to bring a team from the local club to Copenhagen in September.

Peter would like to thank Sport Lisburn for their support. For more information visit www.lisburntaekwondo.co.uk.
