Finaghy were due to travel to play Newcastle on Saturday May 30, but the game was called off early on because of the congestion caused by the Open Golf and the fact the Newcastle club was being used for parking.

It was not the only match off and the Inter-Association Championships meant Lisnagarvey’s home match with Dundonald in NIBA Division 1 was cancelled.

Latest winners at Soldierstown

The latest winners at Soldierstown Summer Indoor Bowling Tournament were ladies’, Irene Cunningham and gent’s, Ross Mackin.

The tournaments continue each Saturday from 7.30pm and will run until the end of June.

Make a date each week and plan to attend the event in the Parish hall.

Eglantine summer tournaments have started

The annual summer indoor bowling tournaments at Eglantine have commenced and continue throughout the summer months from 7.30pm each Wednesday evening.

A warm welcome is extended to everyone to come along and enjoy an evening of fun and friendship.

Carol and John the winners

The summer indoor bowling tournaments have started at Seymour Street Lisburn Methodist on Monday nights from 7.30pm.

The latest winners were John Edwards and Carol Wilson.

They will continue each week until Monday July 6 and entries are £2. All will be made very welcome.

Malone getting closer to a win

This was another losing day for Malone in Private Greens Division 4, but the match was more keenly contested and they could have picked up a couple of points away to Belmont C.

Frazer Thompson and Terry Monro both lost by two shots and both were decided at the last end.

Eric Mairs lost out by seven shots and David Nelson went down by five shots.

Malone lost on all four rinks when going down by 68 shots away to Ballymena C in the second round of the Private Greens Junior Cup.

Six points for Garvey

On Tuesday night Lisnagarvey took six points from a 16 shots home win over Carrick in NIBA Division 1.

Down 4-9 at the tenth but level 10-10 at 15 ends Philip Cromie went on to win by eight shots.

Neil Mulholland was 6-8 down at the tenth but 13-12 up at 15 ends before winning by five shots.

Down 5-16 at the tenth and 9-20 at 15 ends Ivan Craig lost by nine shots.

Noel Graham was 11-2 ahead at the tenth and 18-6 at 15 ends before getting a 12 shots win.

Lisnagarvey B had to settle for half-a-point when they lost by 19 shots away to Ormeau in NIBA Division 3.

Adrian McNevison was 9=15 down at the tenth but 20-17 up at 15 ends. Garvey had to settle for a tie when 48 shots were shared.

Level 8-8 at the tenth and 16-10 ahead at 15 ends Jim Chapman bfailed to score again and lost five shots.

Alton Reid was down at ten and 15 ends before losing by 13 shots.

Down 9-13 at one stage Bobby Carroll came back well but was pipped by a shot at the finish.

Jim Parkinson was 8-11 down at the tenth and 10-17 at 15 ends before losing by ten shots.

Down 2-17 at the tenth and 5-20 at 15 ends Jeff Fawcus came back a little but lost by ten shots.
