Forged fivers flood into lisburn

There was deep concern in December 1971 as forged notes started flooding into Lisburn.

A spate of five pound notes began doing the rounds, with police expressing concern in the run up to Christmas.

Over the space of a few days, eleven forged fivers were successfully passed, mainly in crowded pubs.

Police urged people not to accept anything that looked suspicious and to contact them immediately.
