Nick reaches Moira singles semi-finals

HILLSBOROUGH Social’s Nick Haire reached the semi-final stage at the St John’s Moira Open Singles Tournament on Saturday night before losing to D. McMahon, Carrickmacross.

Raymond Stubbs, Ballinderry, following his efforts at the Nationals earlier in the day lost in the quarter finals to T. Canavan, Conlig.

The tournament was won by Pat Garvey, Tullysaran, who beat D. McMahon in the final.

There were a maximum 160 entries for the tournament and organiser, Sadie White would like to thank the competitors and those spectators who came along to support the event.

The section winners were Andrew Morrison, Ahoghill; N. Haire, Hillsborough Social; Pat Garvey, Tullysaran; Keith Taylor, Rosemount; D. McMahon, Carrickmacross; T. Canavan, Conlig; R. Stubbs, Ballinderry; D. McCallion, St Anthony’s.

Quarter finals: P. Garvey beat A. Morrison, N. Haire beat K. Taylor, D. McMahon beat R. Stubbs, D. McCallion beat T. Canavan.

Semi-finals: P. Garvey beat D. McCallion, D. McMahon beat N. Haire.

Final: P. Garvey beat D. McMahon.
