Wallace 1st XV’s semi final try scoring heroes described how delighted they were to reach the Schools’ Cup final.
Philip Hylands and Ben Finlay, who scored the winning try, were both overjoyed to see their side defeat Methody, but they were keen to deflect praise from themselves and instead focus on the team.
The two players are also keen to win the trophy when they take on RBAI in Tuesday’s final at the Kingspan Stadium, with Philip Hylands urging the Wallace side to ‘leave a legacy’ at the school.
The local school have never won the prestigious trophy and with 12 of Wallace’s starting 15 in Upper Sixth, they know this is their final opportunity to win the cup.
Philip said: “We want to leave a really good legacy here at Wallace and be the first team to win the trophy, because we know there’s been teams have gone close in the past and have fallen just short at the last hurdle, but we really believe we can do it this time.”
