Derriaghy enjoyed a successful weekend recording five wins from five games played at senior level.
The First XI got their first league points on the board for the season with narrow wins over Lurgan and Bangor respectively.
On Saturday at Pollock Park Derriaghy scored 232 for 6 with Kaushik Aphale recording his first century of the season hitting 101.
He was well supported by Curtis Moorhead (35), Ross Bailey (23) plus useful contributions from Lewis and Andy Kenny.
Despite a solid 80 from the home sides professional Godbole and a bludgeoning 53 not out from Neil Anderson the Lurgan reply fell 6 runs short with their last man being bowled of the final delivery as he attempted a 6 to tie the game. It was visiting skipper Craig Lewis with an excellent bowling spell of 5 for 43 and Aphale with 4 for 37 who held his nerve in that final over to see his side to victory.
On Sunday at Queensway against Bangor the home side made first use of a beautiful pitch and looked to be heading for a total in excess of 250 as they reached 174 for 4 with 12 overs remaining.
However following the run out of K Aphale for 54 and the dismissal of Andy Kenny for a solid 37 the remaining batsmen failed to put up much resistance and they were all out for 209 with 4.4 overs unused.
Earlier Peter Bell with 29 and Ross Bailey 24 have given Derriaghy a solid platform for a much bigger total.
In reply Bangor’s South African pro Esau fought a lone hand with 120. His innings was simply stunning as he peppered boundary after boundary including 4 maximums in 1 over of Moorhead.
When he was at the crease there was only one winner but after Peter Bell picked up his wicket, Bangor’s remaining batsmen couldn’t change their defence only approach and Derriaghy completed the win as they bowled the Seasiders out for 194.
It was Bell with figures of 4 for 27 who was the star of the show while Craig Lewis bowled a stunning opening spell and recorded 3-42 and Curtis Moorhead 2-43.
The out fielding was also excellent with 4 or 5 smart catches being held.
This Saturday Derriaghy host Downpatrick in the league starting at 1pm.
The 2nd XI began their defence of the Intermediate Cup with a good 6 wicket win over Lurgan at Queensway.
Batting first the visitors struggled to 95 all out with the wickets being shared by K Beckett 3 for 15, R Malone 2 for 16, T Moorhead 2 for 34, S Hegarty 2 for 1 and Scott Hughes who bowled 6 overs for 2 runs and taking 1 wicket.
Captain D Scott 30, R Mullohand and Josh Cardosi 25 not out were the main run scorers as the home side cruised to victory.
The 3rd XI also had a great weekend beating fierce local rivals Lisburn by 3 runs in the Minor Cup on Saturday.
Nathan Adams was the hero taking the last wicket in the final over.
On Sunday they hit 183 in beating Cregagh by 84 runs as another under 15 player starred, Jonny Lynch scoring 65, while Jordan McMullan made a more than useful 43.
Unfortunately the Under 15s could not make it a clean sweep for the club as they went down to Lurgan in the Graham cup.
