Well known local bowler, Stevie Mulholland, who plays for St Joseph’s in the Lisburn League was delighted with his runner-up Shield and certificate in the Shield competition at the Short Mat Players’ Tour Irish Open in the Watson Stadium.
Even Frank Cunningham, from Rock, who won an all-Lisburn final 12-6 could not have been more delighted with his own success, when Stevie, a well-known figure in Lisburn bowls, celebrated his achievement.
A good performance by both Lisburn players in the prestigious event. Cunningham had earlier beaten J. Robinson 9-8 and Mulholland won 9-3 against C. McCrossan.
First round byes for Lisburn
Lisburn men’s and ladies teams have both received byes in the first round of the Inter Zone Competitions, due to be played on Saturday, October 24.
The men have been drawn at home in the second round, but it is a tough assignment when they face Northern on Saturday, November 28.

On Saturday, December 5 the local ladies face strong opponents in the form of North West at home and again depending on the outcome of the two ties Lisburn face a lengthy trip to Foyle or an even more arduous journey to Cork on Saturday, January 16.

Aghagallon’s relegation to Section C sets up that much awaited battle with St Clare’s again.
