At the recent AGM, Stephen Boyd was elected as the new Lambeg Golf Club Captain for the incoming year.

Before his speech, he announced that Gerald McDonald has accepted his nomination as Vice-Captain. Stephen thanked the outgoing Captain, John Greeran for all his hard work during the past year.

He sent a big thank-you to all the players and team Captains that took part in the GUI competitions and in particular to Jim Hanna, Team Captain of the Jimmy Bruen and his players who went as far as the semi-finals, a remarkable achievement for such a small club.

They hope this will encourage more members to put their names forward for these competitions in the incoming year. Darren McShane was re-elected as Honorary Secretary, and Alan Crockard re-elected as Honorary Treasurer.

Stephen Thornhill was elected as Match and Handicap convenor.

Team captains were confirmed as Ulster Cup; Tom Coulter, Ulster-Fourball; David Hilland. Jimmy Bruen; Craig Tiffen. Barton Shield; Stephen Thornhill and Pierce Purcell; Darren McShane.

Brian Bates ended his very successful three year stint as President and Ritchie Gorman has been elected as his replacement. Ritchie has already acknowledged that it will be very difficult to maintain the high standard that Brian has set but is looking forward to the challenge.

The Lambeg Championship starts the season off next week and is a stroke-competition. There will be food and refreshments afterwards at the prize-giving in the clubhouse.
