Nineteen students from St Patrick’s Academy travelled to Kingspan Stadium in Belfast on Thursday March 5 to watch the Ireland rugby team training.

Demand was high, with all 5000 of the free tickets being sold within 48 hours and there was a lively buzz around the ground.

The Ireland team went through some of their own fitness and skills drills before moving onto a fast-paced training game against the Ulster Rugby Academy squad.

After the session spectators crowded along the touchline eagerly awaiting their rugby idols and the chance for an autograph or a selfie!

Paul O’Connell, Simon Zebo, Jamie Heaslip, Connor Murray, Johnny Sexton, Rory Best and Tommy Bowe were amongst the famous faces being interviewed and photographed.

All in all it was an inspiring morning watching professional rugby players training and spending time with their fans.
