Malone Ladies 1sts 1

South Ladies 2nds 5

South Ladies kept up their very successful start to the new year with another victory away to Malone ladies.

South dominated the first half with the midfield of Amy Wright, Rachel Sullivan and Bethany Lockhart able to give plenty of opportunities to the South forwards.

A great chance came South’s way when Lucy Fitzpatrick by passed a South defender slotting the ball to Laura McConnell who was unfortunate to find an in form Malone keeper.

This soon prompted Malone into action with one of their forwards skilfully taking a rebound to go one up.

South soon responded and made it evens before half time when Laura McConnell was rewarded her first goal of the day.

Laura McConnell got her second goal of the game after some fine attacking play from Amy Wright and Bethany Lockhart.

South were rewarded again for their efforts by winning a short corner and took full advantage when Bethany Lockhart skilfully scored her second goal for the team after Malone failed to clear the ball out of the circle.

Laura again proved to be in form and finally got her hat trick, the second in her career when she picked up another fine pass from Lucy and slotted the ball home.

Bethany soon got her second to put the game out of Malone’s reach five yards out with a delicately placed shot into the back of the net.

South are in second place with a great chance of promotion if they can keep up their good form.

Well done to Lucy Fitzpatrick for player of the match and many thanks to Stephen Hood for umpiring.
