A run of four consecutive pars for three points each helped to give Mervyn Hewitt (20) a winning score of 24 points in the Saturday competition at Lisburn.
Mervyn’s run started at the third and another par at the ninth gave him a two point advantage over five other competitors: Eric Wilkinson (24), Bill Murphy(19), George Heatherington (20), Stephen Wilkinson (18) and Mark Jamieson (14).
Bill finished with two pars for six points, which was sufficient to secure second place. Eric recovered from a poor start at the first two holes to shoot three pars in a row for eleven points. His steady play over the remaining holes earned him third place on count-back.
Mervyn Mawhinney, Irwin Scott, Allen Sayers, Noel Robinson, Andrew Campbell and Chris Warwick finished on 21.
